Golden Oak Spawn TM Casing Inoculum has been developed for ease of use under all growing conditions  It is grown on a pre-blended, sterile substrate using the same cultures as those used in grain spawn.

For farms that do not use Casing Inoculum it is an ideal way to start.  For those farms that have been using compost Casing Inoculum it is a safe alternative.

WHY USE GOLDEN OAK TM CASING INOCULUM?

bulletEliminates the risk of compost related diseases such as virus, weed molds or nematodes being spread throughout the crop.
bulletReduces cropping cycles time.
bulletEliminates the need to ruffle.
bulletRemoves the need to extend spawn run times to have suitable conventional casing available.
bulletImproves crop timing and predictability.
bulletIs cost effective.

    USAGE:
Golden Oak Spawn TM Casing Inoculum should be added to the casing mix just prior to its application.  Even mixing throughout the casing soil is critical.

    RATES:
The standard application is ¼ lb. Per square foot on a 1 ½” depth of casing.  As a general rule, one pound of casing inoculum can be used for every four to six square feet.  The usage rate however, may vary depending on type of casing and the required crop timing.

    CASE RUNNING:
Light frequent watering is recommended as heavy watering may retard the growth.  Flushing can generally occur between day five and seven.

    STORAGE:
Casing Inoculum should be stored in a clean cool room under the same conditions as grain spawn.

    MANAGEMENT OF PINNING:
As the CACing process accelerates the time between casing and flushing, all the crop management tasks have to be carried out within a much shorter time frame.  The most important of these being watering and moisture management.  For Golden Oak TM Casing Inoculum, it is preferred to apply the casing as wet as is practical for your farm.  Golden Oak TM Casing Inoculum is robust and unlike similar products, will allow light watering as early as the day following casing.  In practice however the Casing Inoculum will require a little less water than compost casing during the first three to four days of case run.  Care must also be taken not to over wet the casing and impede the development of the compost casing interface.

It is also important to maintain a high CO2 level, preferably between 5,000 and 10,000 ppm to avoid pre-pinning.  If there is a need to cool with fresh air, it will be preferable to do this during the first day or so after casing, as with Casing Inoculum pinning will occur at day four if allowed.
